GL PHOTOMETERS
Accurate photometric instruments for measurements and characterisation of light sources lamps and lighting systems
Photometers optimized for different applications
Discover a new range of quality accurate photometric instruments with high sensitivity, laboratory level V-lambda correction and high sampling rate for different light measurement applications. Extensive experience of GL Optic development team resulted in introduction of different models of photometers optimized for light measurement. Starting from illuminance [lx] measurements in laboratory conditions, through the faster Luminous Intensity Distribution [LID] measurements during the gonio-photometeric tests, light modulation characterisation (incl. Flicker) up to the on-site dynamic measurements on the roads. Select the model suitable to your application.
Faster photometry
Discover a new quality of the fast On-fly gonio-photometric measurements with the use of our new model of fast photometer, the GL PHOTOMETER 3.0 LS + Flicker. Combine this device with the GL Goniometer and enjoy results up to 10 times faster than from the standard point-to-point gonio measurement mode. In the course of On-fly mode, this device makes many thousands of measurements per second to reproduce precisely a luminous intensity curve for each plane.
Light flicker measurements
GL PHOTOMETER 3.0 + Flicker is a high speed (125 kHz) photometer capable of extensive measurements of light flicker when combined with the GL OPTI SPHERE System. Available PC software GL Spectrosoft delivers all the latest essential flicker metrics such as: SVM (Stroboscopic Visibility Measure), PstML, Flicker Frequency, Flicker Index, Flicker Ratio, SAM, Mp ( Flicker Perception), VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) and JEITA (Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association).
Dynamic tests of road lighting
GL PHOTOMETER HSLx 2.0 WP is a class A llluminance Photometer, which has been designed especially for outdoor measurements. Its housing gives protection against weather and dirt (IP64). Three or more devices can be used to create a “mobile laboratory” which allows measuring the dynamic measurements of road illuminance in compliance with the requirements of EN 13201: 2015. Such a system can be combined with a laptop, dedicated software and a trailer (or installed on a bumper of a car). GPS system adds coordinates data for Google Maps Geocoding API or another similar service.
Class A photometers
The spectral response of the photometer precisely matches the spectral sensitivity of a human eye. This limits the miss-match errors of measurements of different types of light sources that are usual for this kind of instrument. Class-L version is available on request.
Integrating sphere flicker measurements
This fast photometer can be used as a complimentary device for the GL Spectroradiometer in the integrating sphere measurement system. GL Spectroradiometer attached to an integrating sphere of any size enables luminous flux and efficacy measurements of LEDs. A GL PHOTOMETER 3.0 + Flicker plugged to the second port of a GL OPTI SPHERE measures all the latest industry required flicker metrics such as: flicker frequency, flicker index, flicker ratio, SVM (Stroboscopic Visibility Measure), PstLM, SAM (Stroboscopic Acceptability Metric), Mp (also called LRC Flicker Perception), VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) and JEITA (Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association).
Ecodesign directive EU 2019/2020 compliant
The new minimum requirements for flicker and the so-called stroboscopic effect are being introduced in Europe effective of September 2021. GL PHOTOMETER 3.0 LS + Flicker can measure light modulation and the available PC software GL SPECTROSOFT delivers the latest metrics such as: SVM (Stroboscopic Visibility Measure), and PstLM as required by the new standards. Using this new GL Optic photometer you can meet the latest European requirements for OLED and LED testing.
GL PHOTOMETER 3.0 + Flicker Usage
2 in 1 high precision illuminance photometer with wide dynamic range & accurate flicker meter
GL PHOTOMETER 3.0 + Flicker is a high sensitivity and high sampling rate photometer capable of extensive measurements of light flicker in addition to regular photometry. Such features as wide dynamic range (0,001 – 10 000 000 lx), uncertainty of spectral response (f1’) less than 3 % (Class A) and cosine correction (f2’) below 1,5% (class A) allow even the most demanding measurement tasks to be solved.
Standalone fast photometer
The new GL PHOTOMETER 3.0 + Flicker can be used as a standalone photometer. It has been prepared to be used in many applications that require a precise measurement of illuminance on surfaces. It can be intuitively controlled by GL Spectrosoft or a dedicated API for external software. Connection by USB cable, provides power to the device, so no external sources or batteries are required.

GL PHOTOMETER 3.0 LS + Flicker Usage
Enabling gonio On-fly measurements
In a standard goniophotometric measurement a goniometer arm moves from point to point throughout a measurement grid and stop each time to carry out the measurement. Depending on the specified density of the measurement grid it can last even many hours. During On-fly measurement a goniometer arms move from one extreme position to the other with constant speed while measuring devices are scanning light distribution incoming from a rotating DUT.
GL PHOTOMETER 3.0 LS + Flicker makes many thousands of measurements per second to reproduce precisely a photometric Luminous Intensity Curve for each plane. Results are obtained much faster and You can make a fast scan of an LED lamp even in a few minutes or a full scan of an asymmetric street lamp with variable light distribution in less than half an hour.
Class A photometer
The spectral response of the photometer precisely matches the spectral sensitivity of a human eye. This eliminates errors resulting from measurements of different types of light sources that are usual for this kind of meter.

GL PHOTOMETER 3.0 TEC Usage
Class L photometer with thermally stabilized photodiode
GL PHOTOMETER 3.0 TEC is a class L (DIN 5032-7:2017) photometer with thermally stabilized photodiode. High sensitivity and high sampling rate (125 kHz) enables extensive measurements of light flicker in addition to regular photometry. It is prepared for goniometric measurements to work together with stray light eliminating tube. Such setup does not use optical elements responsible for cosine correction. This device connects directly to PC by USB, to be controlled by GL SPECTROSOFT or dedicated API for external software use.
