Integrated Solution for Blue Light Hazard Measurement
Assessment of photobiological hazards generated by optical radiation emitted by lamps is a complex metrological problem, as it is necessary to perform spectroradiometric measurements and the measurement of effective quantities in a broad spectral range, which requires specialist calibrated measurement equipment. During tests of lighting equipment which are connected with photobiological safety – irradiance, effective irradiance and effective radiance must be measured to be able to identify all the hazards to eyes and skin.
Blue Light Hazard Measurement in range 300 – 700nm
For this application GL Optic offers a compact laboratory spectrometer – GL Spectis 5.0 Touch. This a specially calibrated instrument brings accurate data from an extended visual spectral range of 200 – 1050 nm, where the most dangerous blue light is present between 300 and 700 nm. Our novel Blue Light Hazard Wizard is built into our Spectrosoft Analysis software to guide the operator through a step-by-step measurement procedure to obtain the risk group classification.
GL Spectrosoft is a dedicated software for GL Spectis Spectrometers which calculates: effective irradiance values EB, EBK, ES, EUVA, EUV, EIR Eskin and effective radiance values like LB, LIRA, LVISIRA. GL Spectrosoft not only calculates and presents data in a clear to interpret way (charts/tables) but also generates RTF reports. Options for calculations concerning Photobiological Safety are available under the LAB license or Spectrosoft PRO licence with the Photobiological Safety Add-on.
Radiance and Irradiance
For irradiance measurements we offer Opti Probe 5.1.50 irradiance/illuminance. When using this probe in connection with our spectroradiometer, the effective quantities are calculated by GL Spectrosoft from irradiance values. This optical probe is using silica glass diffuser and high-quality quartz glass fiber optics which is very desirable due to its high precision and transmission properties.
For radiance measurements we recommend a specially designed telescope Radiance Telescope which is an optical probe conforming the requirement of the IEC standard in regards to the steradian / solid angle resolution and extended spectral range transmittance.
GL Optic spectrometers and accessories always come to a client spectrally calibrated which gives guarantee of their accuracy and high quality performance. The above described instruments meet the requirements for photobiological safety. Contact us for more information or read more in our articles section.
